Human

Overview
Subraces
Racial Skill Tree

Humans are the dominant race on the Continent, forming the majority of inhabitants in both the Northern Kingdoms and the Nilfgaardian Empire. When humans first arrived on the already-populated Continent, they quickly set about conquering the lands already inhabited by Elder Races. The humans thus established themselves as the dominant race and so elves, dwarves, gnomes, werebbubbs, and halflings are now generally referred to as nonhumans.

Humans are not terribly dissimilar from Aen Seidhe elves in appearance and generally the same height. However, humans do not have pointed ears, delicate features and their teeth are slightly bigger. While elves tend to live far longer than humans, humans reproduce at a faster rate.

Humans usually do not refer to themselves as their race, but instead call themselves by their origin: Nilfgaardians, Nordlings, Ofiris, Skelligers, Zerrikanians, so on. More... (Witcher RPG Wiki, english only)

Perks

- Adaptable: Humans start with 50 additional profession points.
- Trustworthy: In a world where non-humans can’t be trusted, humans look more trustworthy. Humans have an inherent +1 to their social skill checks against other humans.
- Ingenuity: Humans are clever and often have brilliant solutions to difficult problems. Humans gain Deduction 1 automatically.
- Blindly Stubborn: Part of the human race’s greatest strength is its willingness to charge forward endlessly, even into truly life-threatening situations. A human can summon up their courage and reroll a failed Will save up to three times per day, once every 2 minutes. This happens automatically.

Professions

- Humans can take any Profession. Humans that become Witchers lose all their racial benefits and are treated as a Mutant henceforth regarding all checks and saving throws.

Social Standing

- Tolerated in Mahakam
- Hated in Dol Blathanna
- Seen as equal everywhere else

Humans do not truly have subraces, they are ethnic groups. The changes are mostly related to their appearance, not stat changes.

Nordling

The ancestors of Nordlings came to the Continent during the Landings, beggining with the Landing of the Exiles around the 760s. Though relatively small in number at the beginning, thanks to their military art and fertility they managed to conquer the land belonging to the Elder Races during a few centuries.

Being a mix-up of several waves of settlers and native nonhuman societies, Nordlings can have various physical traits. They are tall and short, skinny and muscular, slim and stocky. Hair color varies as well: black, blond, brown and red occur most often. Nordling skin color is described either as are pale or swarthy, depending on the location. Seaside cities seem to have even more diverse population, likely due to contacts with the Empire and oversea countries.

Skelligeborn

Skellige, commonly referred to as the Skellige Isles or the Isles of Skellige, is an archipelago and one of the Northern Kingdoms. The group of six islands is situated in the Great Sea, off the coast of Cintra and southwest of Cidaris and Verden. It's legendary, famous for the unrivaled corsairs and swift longships that sail many seas.

They are tall and short, skinny and muscular, slim and stocky. Hair color varies as well: black, blond, brown and red occur most often. Skellige skin color is described either as are pale or swarthy, depending on the location. While Nordlings often shave clean, beards are much more common among the skellige.

Southerner

Southerners refers to humans born in the lands mostly known as Nilfgaard. The demonym Nilfgaardian, when used properly, refers only to the people of Lower Alba, descending from so-called Black Seidhe. While the Nilfgaarian culture has been planted in the Provinces and Palatinates of the Empire, the inhabitants of those regions tend to name themselves as they were named before the conquest. Persons who embrace the Nilfgaardian way of life but do not have Lower Alban ancestry are sometimes called Nilfgaardized, e.g. Nilfgaardized Gemmerans. The Vicovarians, Rowani, and Ymlats have been Nilfgaardized for a long time.

The native (Lower Alban) Nilfgaardians tend to have long faces, large foreheads and dark hair and eyes - the legacy of their elven ancestors. Many of them have aquiline noses and strong chins, resulting in a characteristic Nilfgaardian profile. They are of medium height, usually with slim bodies and slender - yet muscled - arms and legs. Their skin is darker than Nordlings' but usually not much swarthy. However, due to mixing with conquered nations and immigrants in the capital region, these characteristics can often vary.

Haaki

Hakland or Haakland is a land located east of the Tir Tochair and Fiery Mountains, beyond Elskerdeg Pass, lying further than Zerrikania, which it borders in the northeast.

Haaki are easily identified by the shape of their eyes, their dark hair and thin smaller build. They are equivalent to East Asians in the real world.

Ofiris

Ofir or Ofier is a landmass in the region known to Nordlings as "beyond the seas" near Zangvebar, south of the Nilfgaardian Empire. It consisted of various fallen empires, kingdoms and tribes, which were unified by malliqs before the 1270s.

Ofiri have dusky skin tones, though more towards mocha, olive and caramel and less dark than Zerrikanians. Their hair is usually dark as well, using fine oils to take care of it. They enjoy finely fashioned beards, though not all of them.

Zangvebari

Zangvebar lies down off the Continent's southern edge, although some Nordling scholars like Markus Hohlenberg think it's the same landmass connected by an isthmus of deserts and savannas. Its landscape varies from wastes to thick forests with mimosa trees.
