What is required in order to play on your server?
➤ A retail version of Neverwinter Nights 2 with all of its Add-ons is required to visit our project. It can be acquired from GoG.
Where can I get help if my game is not working right?
Most problems with the game are caused by incorrect patching. We advise you to look for a solution at https://neverwintervault.org/. If the help turns out to be insufficient, you can always look for help on our Discord channel.
Didn't you plan to make Ravenloft originally?
➤ Initially, yes, but our reinterpretation of Ravenloft became more and more similar to the world of The Witcher. For this reason, we finally decided to go in this direction. We want to create a mature dark fantasy world, without a clear fairy tale division between good and evil, in which the stories do not revolve around evil, undead, liches, and their armies.
Do my character concepts, which where planned for D&D even fit into The Witcher?
➤ The world created by Sapkowski represents much more than Geralt of Rivia and his friends. Most concepts—apart from extreme cases, such as Pale Masters or half-angels with wings—fit perfectly into the world of The Witcher.
I heard levels are a thing of the past?
➤ Indeed, in the world of Neverwitcher levels do not exist. You pick your profession (and under special circumstances a second profession) and buy skills whenever you rest. No artificial level dictates your strength or potential.
What are the server rules?
➤ When you log in to the server for the first time, you will be able to read them fully. To play, you must accept them.
What regulations are in place regarding character creation?
➤ Players can make up to three characters. Characters that are no longer fun to play can be "retired". Part of their skill points can then be transferred to a new character. All characters must be of legal age according to their respective race.
How is PVP handled?
➤ The term PvP is used for players in conflict with each other, but we do not use it in our project. We prefer the phrase CvC (Character vs. Character). If both sides agree to role-play the conflict, then the game engine's mechanics can be ignored. The conflict can also be played mechanically if the participating players prefer this method of play.
How do you handle character deaths during RP?
➤ Characters who survive the fight have greater opportunities to continue playing than characters who die. For this reason, we encourage players to leave their enemies alive instead of killing them on the spot. However, if it happens that there is no way to escape, then the game masters will have no choice but to consider the character dead.
How can I reach a game master outside of the game in case of emergency?
➤ Discord is the fastest way to contact our team.
What new content is there?
➤ Our project features new models (heads, armor), a changed combat system (spells, talents, etc.), a completely new user interface, AI generated voices and dialogues and much more.
How quickly does time progress in the game world?
➤ One hour of the game time lasts approximately 22 minutes.
In what year is the server set?
➤ Neverwitcher begins in the year 1200. You may look upon our timeline (Witcher RPG Wiki, english only) to see current events.
Is there game master support?
➤ Yes, players will be able to enjoy direct and indiret game master support. Keep in mind, however, that our Game Masters are grown-ups with their own lives - often with children and other important obligations. You should not expect constant support, but you can expect support often enough.
How does the rest system work?
➤ Resting can not be done at any given moment, the character must be tired enough to do so.
Resting takes a certain amount of time during which they are vulnerable. New skills can be acquired when the rest action is triggered, the process completed upon a successful waking up. Unless special conditions are active resting requires a warm place or a fire nearby. Resting in armor is generally a very bad idea.
How is character death handled outside of RP?
➤ When a character dies due to starvation, weather effects, or any other influence outside combat, they are permanently deceased. Should a character die in combat, the first few deaths will be considered a "grace period", and no penalty will be applied. After that, the character will begin to accumulate permanent wounds, starting small and becoming increasingly grievous. While these wounds can be treated, which is rather costly, if a character dies too many times in quick succession, they will end up severely crippled and, most likely, too weakened to play.
Can characters use mounts and/or swim?
➤ Yes, both.
I heard The Witcher is dark fantasy. Does that mean everything is hopeless and joyless?
➤ The Witcher is fantasy for grown-ups, reflecting many aspects of the real world. Just like the real world, it isn't just grim and depressing; it can be just as wondrous, magical, and captivating. Unlike lesser fantasy, our world is not just one extreme.
Which languages does TWO support?
➤ We are currently supporting english and german. As soon as enough players are present we may also fully support polish and/or french.
I wish to write my character's backstory down. Is there a place for that?
➤ You can write your character down in the Witcher RPG Wiki.
I wish to learn more about The Witcher world. Where shall I turn?
➤ You will learn most from the collections of short stories and The Witcher Saga by Andrzej Sapkowski, or, if you don't have time, you can check out The Witcher Wiki.
