Features
What makes Neverwitcher so different?
Unlike other projects that use Neverwinter Nights II as basis, Neverwitcher fully breaks with any connection to Dungeons & Dragons and fully embraces the world of The Witcher. New enemies, new user interface (GUI), new music, new combat system, nothing aside walking remains the same.
Based in the dark fantasy written by Sapkowski, Neverwitcher brings a mature edge to the world. Instead of threats that will destroy the world if not stopped The Witcher deals much more with smaller, and much more personal, issues. There shall be no demon armies or undead hordes that threaten to lay siege to cities, such cliches have no place in our world.
No levels, only skills
Unlike NWN2 and D&D as a whole, Neverwitcher has a entirely unique progression system. Instead of one single experience type every character gathers physical, social and magical skill points. These can be invested in skills with each rest, granting bonuses, making the character stronger or giving them new combat talents. No arbitrary “level” will force your adventure to stop, you must know yourself if you are strong enough to take a challenge on or not.
Crafting
One of the pillars of our project is the crafting system. Heavily inspired by The Witcher 3 and expanded upon with ideas similar to the TTRPG by R. Talsorian Games, our crafting system is intuitive but also expansive. With the use of a special currency called Downtime, which is accumulated when your character is not present in the world, crafting times can be reduced (insinuating your character made the effort in the hours they weren't there).
From swords to repeating cross bows all the way to tables and stone statues, if you can think of it, it can be crafted.
Housing & Helpers
Another part of our world is the housing system. Each town and village offers homes both inside and outside of itself, from a small house to guild houses and farmsteads. Each home is instanced, yet connected to the world. They can be furnished to your liking and serve as your safe haven, along with the possibility to grow your own produce and store your valuable items. Furthermore, if you check the hiring boards in villages and towns you can gain NPCs that can sell items in your absence for you or guard your home.
Full Immersion
Every aspect of the game has been changed to reflect The Witcher world. You wont find a single UI element from NWN2 that is left unchanged. Together with new sound effects, voice sets, music from the Witcher games and AI generated voice acting, Neverwitcher is a feast for both eyes and ears.
Your character, your story
While called The Witcher the world offers much more than just the mutants as options. From a quaint farmer tending to their fields to a noble that holds both land and title, many options await those ready to experience them.
No such thing as “trash” mobs
In the world of The Witcher, every monster is uniquely dangerous. While most will think Drowned are easy prey (and they are, when alone) those that dare to venture further away from civilization will learn that some enemies could hold of an entire army on their own. That is why professionals were needed in the first place, after all. Learn about the monsters, understand them, destroy them and harvest their parts to get stronger.
Achievement, Quests and Task
There is always something to do in the world of Neverwitcher. Each day players will be given a random task to accomplish, along with a weekly task that take longer but also give a greater reward. Should you dislike your current task you may re-roll it once per day, to give another chance if it truly isn't to your liking. Tasks along with quests you can do (some only once, some more often) and our brand new Achievement system, there are many things one can do even without a Game Master around.
Our Witcher World
Time progresses, and each year that goes by ingame will be documented along with every event that transpired. Those characters that have shown significant importance may even find themselves added to the Hall of Legends, a place outside of time and space where their deeds will remain written down for as long as our project lasts.
Replayability
If you dislike your current character or found inspiration in a different profession/race, it is easy to start with a new character. When you “retire” them you can retain some of the skill points you have gathered and grant them to your new creation, getting you up to speed faster than a brand new character. There is no need to feel locked in into one role, try whatever you wish … or have up to 3 characters at the same time and use the one you feel fits the current going ons the most.
